If you are going to a Major League Baseball game, below is a list of things you will need to bring. You will want to make sure you are complying with any security protocols the stadium has. This is the security bag that I use for all sporting events to make it easier to get through security (affiliate link takes you to Amazon). What to bring to a baseball game: Clear Stadium Bag - like this one at Amazon (affiliate link)Sun protection - Is your stadium open-air?Weather Protection - Be preparedBaseball Glove - TraditionPower Bank for Phone - Charge phone on site; Games are longCamera - If your phone won't cut itWater - Some stadiums allow bottled waterStadium Headphones - For radio feedNoise-Canceling Headphones - For toddlerBug Repellent - For mosquitoes if outdoors Clear Stadium Tote Bag Why? Security is as strong as it has ever been at professional sporting events. Major League Baseball is no exception. If you don't own a clear tote bag, it would be a good idea to buy one. They are relatively inexpensive and can save you from being hassled at the gate by security. This is the one that I use (affiliate link takes you to Amazon). Major League Baseball has not adopted a league-wide clear bag policy like the NFL has, but the security of each stadium (including minor leagues) is different, and using a clear bag is a smart way to eliminate the possibility of having an issue. If you don't want to buy a clear bag to take with you and instead want to use a bag you already own, you will need to take the time to either call the stadium and ask them what bags are permitted, or try to find the information on the team website. Sun Protection Why? The reasoning here is obvious. If the stadium is an open-air stadium, you can be baking under a hot sun for 3-4 hours. Summer sun protection may be the most important thing to consider at a baseball game. What should you bring? Cream SunscreenBrimmed hatSunglasses Remember to bring cream sunscreen to protect your skin. Cream sunscreen is recommended because many Major League Baseball stadiums do not allow aerosol cans on their premises, so spray sunscreen will likely not be an option. You might not want to carry a large bottle around with you all day so a pocket-sized 3-ounce sunscreen bottle might be best for you. Don’t forget a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. Weather Protection Why? Open-air MLB stadiums face all kinds of elements throughout a season, all the way from snowstorms to thunderstorms. You will want to check the forecast before you go to see what you will be facing. What should you bring? Disposable Poncho?Blanket? If heavy rain is in the forecast, and you want to brave it out, bring a disposable poncho with you to help keep you dry. If you have season tickets or partial season tickets, it's a good idea to buy 3-5 disposable ponchos and keep them in a drawer in your house. And for the occasional baseball snow storms, or cold nights, you will want to consider bringing a blanket with you to cover up with. Baseball Glove Why? Bringing a baseball glove to the game is tradition. For many generations, fans have brought gloves to the games in hopes of catching foul balls. This may or may not be your thing, but depending on where you are sitting, a glove can also act as protection from sharply hit foul line drives. Power Bank to Charge Phone Why? Baseball games last on average over three hours and can easily last up to four hours long. If you are someone who uses your phone a lot, and seeing it go dead drives you nuts, you might want to consider bring an alternate power source to charge your phone with. What to bring? Power bank Power banks are batteries that store electrical energy which can then be used to charge your device so you don't have to find an electrical outlet. Power banks are pocket-sized and, depending on the storage capacity, can charge your phone multiple times. I personally would recommend a power bank in general anyway, even if you are not going to a baseball game. I bought one about a year ago for a reason completely different than a baseball game, and I am to the point now where I prefer to use it basically everyday. It's so nice not to have to plug your phone in to the wall. You can plug your phone in to the power bank and the power bank can sit in your lap, so whatever you are working on at the time doesn't have to be put on hold while you hook your phone up to a charging station on your dresser or wherever. Electrical outlets are never in the right spot. The battery is always going dead at the worst times. Power banks take care of all of that. If you are planning on bringing a camera to the game also, a power bank can help charge it as well. I have not been able to find an MLB stadium that does not allow power banks to be brought in through security. If you are concerned, you can always contact the stadium beforehand. It likely will not be an issue. Buy your husband or wife or girlfriend or boyfriend a power bank for their birthday. It will be a gift that makes their life easier! I take mine everywhere. Other Items You Must Consider Here are a few other items you might want to consider: Camera - Many people just use their phone but perhaps you are wanting higher quality images. Please be aware that some stadiums restrict the size of camera lenses so be sure to check with the stadium guidelines.Bottle of Water - Many stadiums will allow you to bring in a bottle of water. Some stadiums also allow you to bring in Gatorade, but limit the size.Stadium Headphones - Some fans like to listen to the radio feed of the game while watching live action.Noise-cancelling Headphones - If you have a toddler with you, stadiums can get quite loud at times.Bug Repellent - Summer outdoor stadiums it will always be a good idea to bring mosquito repellent. Remember, must stadiums do not allow aerosol cans. Items that are (Usually) Prohibited at MLB Stadiums The protocol for some of these items may vary from stadium to stadium, but many of these items will be prohibited at all Major League Baseball stadiums.
